Elbow & Arm

The pain associated with tennis elbow can have a knock on effect on almost every aspect of your daily life. Technically known as Lateral Epicondylitis, it is an irritation of the tissue that connects the forearm muscle to the elbow.

Symptoms

  • Intense pain
  • Burning pain
  • Sensitivity to pressure on the forearm muscles

Causes

Tennis elbow doesn’t just affect tennis players, it can also be caused by RSI - or Repetitive Strain Injury such as that seen by the overuse of a computer mouse or keyboard. The blanket term for these types of injuries is Occupational Overuse Syndrome (OOS). Degenerative joint diseases such as arthritis can also be to blame in older patients.

Diagnosis

The arm and elbow specialists at JC Rejuvenation and Wellness can diagnose Lateral Epicondylitis, RSI, and OOS in our consulting rooms.

Treatment

Physical therapy is normally the best way to treat tennis elbow as the weakened muscles and/or lack of coordination through the arm, elbow and wrist must be strengthened in order to treat the condition.
